About the tour
Tantauco Park is a fascinating large private reserve at the southern end of Chiloé, with many trails and hikes lasting from one to many days. Our particular tour takes you to the northernmost area of the park to see the gorgeous Lake Yaldad.
We begin our day by picking you up after breakfast in your hotel in Castro and traveling towards the southern part of the island on the way to Quellón. We then leave the highway and go into the forested interior on a gravel road that leads to the Yaldad camping sector. Once there, we embark on a 2-hour walk (medium level) along the Yaldad River, which will lead us to the park’s Visitor Center.
Here, we will enjoy a gourmet picnic lunch while taking in the stunning view of the Lake Yaldad. After lunch, we will explore the Visitor Center before taking the easier Siempreverde Trail. We will then return to the gate and head back to Castro around 5:30 p.m for you to get a well-deserved night’s rest.
Included are all transportation, lunch, and an English-speaking guide.
