Enjoy a 5-star ferry trip from Buenos Aires, Argentina to Montevideo, Uruguay. Relax in VIP seating with 360-degree views, or from the elegant dining room with a full buffet, or if you want, walk around the ship at your leisure to catch the breeze on deck.

Trips to Montevideo are relatively short at two hours and forty-five minutes in length, and the ferries are always kept in excellent operating condition, cleaned, and furnished with taste.

    >> Please be aware, ferry reservations for this trip are non-refundable. No exceptions can be made. <<

The vessel Papa Francisco is a large state-of-the-art vessel for one thousand passengers total and 135 cars, but the Primera Especial area we offer is limited to just 68 clients.  The ship is propelled by powerful LNG turbines with zero environmental impact thanks to several functions being powered by solar batteries.

Departing from downtown Buenos Aires, the ship glides across the wide Rio del Plata that combines its sweet water with the incoming saltwater of the Atlantic Ocean. Walk on deck to capture the early sun if you are taking the morning departure, or enjoy the late day tiring of the sun and mellow breeze if you’re taking the afternoon departure. You will find wi-fi and large-screen televisions and all the comforts of home on board the ship.

    About the Destination

Montevideo shares a long culture of similar history to Buenos Aires, with a rich fabric of European immigration. However, it is more tranquil and less complicated than Buenos Aires and is a convenient hub for reaching all of the rest of Uruguay like Punta del Este, Carmelo, Colonia, and more.

Visit the famed Teatro Solis for continuing live theater productions. As the country’s capital, you can expect to find its best museums located here, like the National Museum of Visual Arts, the Carnaval Museum, the Salvo Palace that houses the National Tango Museum and Presidential History Museum, and even a museum dedicated to the history and traditions of cannabis!

If you are seeking some pleasant recreation, we recommend the Fisherman’s Walks at the edge of Parque Rodo, or just walk up Washington Street in the center of the city as it passes through the beautiful Plaza Zabala and then a couple blocks more the Plaza de la Constitucion.

Many come to Montevideo or try to not leave it before visiting the large duty-free economic zone to get great deals on all kinds of electronic and manufactured goods.  Fortunately, this is located immediately around the ferry dock and is known as Puerto Libre.

While you may think of major beach destinations outside of Montevideo like La Paloma and Punto del Diablo, take advantage of Montevideo’s own cosmopolitan beach fronts like Playa del Cerro (on the west side of Montevideo’s harbor at the foot of the General Artigas fortress), Playa Ramirez, Playa de los Pocitos, and Playa Buceo.
